  • Conclusion of formalities for the sale of 51% of the share capital and assignment of management control to Fortis Group, in respect of the Millennium bcp Fortis ? Grupo Segurador, SGPS, S.A., joint venture, the entity that holds 100% of the share capital of the following insurance companies specialised in "bancassurance" business: Ocidental ? Companhia Portuguesa de Seguros de Vida, S.A., Ocidental - Companhia Portuguesa de Seguros, S.A., Pensõesgere ? Sociedade Gestora de Fundos de Pensões, S.A., and Companhia Portuguesa de Seguros de Saúde, S.A. ? Médis.
  • Annual General Meeting of Banco Comercial Português.
  • Election of Paulo Teixeira Pinto as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and also of the Senior Board for the 2005-08 term of office.
  • Definition and implementation of the Group?s New Organisational Model, its executive co-ordination now structured as eight units.
  • Conclusion of the acquisition of the remaining 50% of the NovaBank share capital from the Dimitrios Contominas Group, under the terms and conditions that had been announced. NovaBank therefore became fully owned by Banco Comercial Português, S.A.
  • Signature of a protocol with the Portuguese Authors? Society granting the bank the status of "Portuguese Authors? Bank" on a exclusive basis.
  • 3rd edition of the Investor Day held in Lisbon on May 20, 2005.
  • Signature of a protocol with the Culture Ministry establishing an "Institutional Partnership Agreement", which will embrace the Portuguese Museums Institute (IPM) and the São Carlos National Theatre. Through this agreement the Bank was awarded public status as the Sole Sponsor of the Theatre, of the National Museum of Ancient Art and of the Soares dos Reis National Museum up to December 2008.
  • Election of Millennium bcp as "Bank of the Year" by The Banker magazine, on the basis of 2004 year-end financial statements.
  • Nominations of Millennium bcp as "Best Bank in Portugal" by the Global Finance magazine, Millennium bcp investimento was distinguished as the "Best Investment Bank in Portugal".
  • Award of six prizes (two in Portugal and four in the rest of Europe) by the Global Finance magazine, within the scope of the "World?s Best Internet Bank Awards 2005".
  • Agreement with Hong Kong based Dah Sing Bank Limited involving the sale of the Group?s business in the banking and insurance sectors in Macao, while providing for the continuation of the local Millennium bcp branch.
  • Agreement with Société Générale for the sale of BCP?s holding in Interbanco, S.A.
  • Launch, on the last day of the International Microcredit Year, of an autonomous operation specialised in Microcredit business, designed to support entrepreneurship and the fight against social exclusion, a part of Millennium bcp?s strategy of Social Responsibility and of value creation. Three Microcredit branches were inaugurated in Lisbon, Oporto and Braga.
  • Conclusion of the process of sale of Millennium bcp banking and insurance businesses in Macao to the Dah Sing Group after the necessary authorisations had been secured.
  • Final decision of the Banca Comerciala Romana Privatisation Comission and of the Authority for Assets Recovery. BCP did not acquire BCR since it had not presented the highest financial bid.
